Ingredients

4 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah preferred)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup whole milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

2 tbsp unsalted butter, divided

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

Fresh fruits for topping (bananas, strawberries, or blueberries)

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined and frothy.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Allow it to melt and foam slightly.

While the skillet heats, take each slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated without soaking.

Once the skillet is ready, carefully place the soaked bread slices in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side, or until golden brown.

Flip the bread slices and immediately sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown sugar on each slice while it cooks on the other side. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until caramelized and golden brown.

Remove the caramelized French toast slices from the skillet and keep warm on a plate. Repeat with the remaining bread, adding more butter as necessary.

Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup (if using), and topped with fresh fruits and a dollop of whipped cream if desired. Enjoy your delicious caramelized French toast!
