Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans work well)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Beat in the vanilla extract and the eggs, one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated after each addition.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) gently with a spatula or wooden spoon.

Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked (they will continue to cook on the baking sheet).

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 25-30 minutes | Servings: Approximately 24 cookies
